ROUTES don't move a
long
distance
(over
100
miles)
with the unit turned
off,
then
A route
gives you
the
abilityto navigate
to several
waypointswithout having
to
reprogram
the unit after
arriving
at each one. A route consists of two or
more
waypoints.
When
you
travel on a
route,
the
GlobalMap
1000 shows
navigation
information
to the first
waypoint
in the route. When
you
reach
the first
waypoint, (signalled by
the Arrival
Alarm),
the
GlobalMap
1000
automatically
sequences
to the
next
waypoint. Navigation
information is
shown to this
waypoint
and the
process repeats.
When
you
reach the last
waypoint
in a
route,
the arrival alarm sounds
until
you
turn it off.
There are four
steps required
to create and follow
a route.
First,
you
must
create and name the route.
Next,
select the
waypoints
used
in the route.
Then
determine the
starting waypoint.
Next,
tellthe unit to follow the route.
Finally,the
unitwill
askyou
if
youwishto
runthe routeforwardorbackward.
After these
steps
are
completed,
the
GlobalMap
1000 will start
showing
navigation
data to
the first
waypoint
on the route.
The
GlobalMap
1000 allows
creating
a route from the list of
waypoints
or
directly
from the
map.

Help
you probably
won't need
to do the initialization
again,
since it stores all of
the last known
position settings
in
memory
each time it's turned off. An
internal clock
keeps
track of the
time,
even when
the unit is turned
off,
so
that it will be correct the next time it's
used.
Once the LGC-1 OPS module finds the satellites and
displays
the correct
latitude/longitude
for
your position,
then the
GlobalMap
1000 is
ready
for
use.
To send a cold start
message
to the
receiver,
first
press
the MENU
key.
Now
press
the
key
next to the "I/O and Initialization"
label.
Finally, press
the
key
next to the "Cold Start OPS Receiver"
label. The unit will
begin
a
cold
starttechniquetofind
the available satellites.
It should lock ontothem
in 15 minutes or less.
Remember,
when it
does,
your
local time and
possibly
date
display
will
probably
be
wrong.
Use
the method shown
previously
to set the time and date to their
proper
local
settings.
Once this
is
done,
an internal clock will
keep
the correct
time,
even when the unit is
turned off. The GPS
system updates
this clock when the unit is locked on
to the satellites.
GPS
RECEIVER TEST
If
you
have the LGC-1 OPS receiver
connected to the
GlobalMap
1000,
a
test can
be
performed
on the receiver. This tests
many parameters
of the
receiver, letting
you
know
if there is a malfunction. If the LGC-1 fails
any
ofthetests on the shown onthe
screen,

COLD START
When the
GlobalMap
1000 is
turned on for the
first time "out
of the

it
automatically
sends a "cold start"
message
to the Lowrance
LGC-1 GPS
receiver. You can also send a
cold start
message
to the re-
ceiver. If the unit can't lock on
to the satellites

the data
